Vaping 101: An Awareness Program for Parents, Guardians and Caregivers

A facilitator from the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment’s Tobacco Education & Prevention Program will present and lead a discussion to help participants:

  • Define vaping
  • Understand what vape products look like and how they have evolved over time
  •  Learn ingredients and flavors of vape products
  •  Identify signs that a young person may be vaping
  •  Understand health risks associated with vaping youth
  •  Identify and utilize youth cessation resources

 Who should attend?

  • Parents, guardians, or caregivers
  • Teachers, school staff, administrators, and coaches
  • Community-based youth program and service providers

The American Lung Association’s Freedom from Smoking is an 7-week / 8 session, in-person smoking secession program facilitated by the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment’s Tobacco Education & Prevention Program.

In a group setting you will learn:
• How to know if you are ready to quit
• Medications that can help quit
• Lifestyle changes that can help
• How to get ready for your quit day
• Ways to manage stress
• How to stay smoke-free for good

Sessions will take place at LINC Library Innovation Center, on Wednesday evenings, October 25 – December 6, 2023, from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm, as well as an additional session on Friday, November 17th, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm.
